Why are highly sensitive students not keen on group activities ?
A common theme in conversations with teachers is the individualism of highly sensitive students. They are much more likely to prefer working in small groups or alone. They do not like situations in which they have to stay in a large group for a long time (for example during trips). They are wrongly attributed to isolation and arrogance in relation to others or lack of social skills.

Highly sensitive children’s preferences for working in small groups or alone do not result from the belief in their own superiority or lack of social skills. The reason lies in the structure of their nervous system. The excess of stimuli related to being around other people is a big overload for these children. For this reason, after a period of intense activity with other children, they willingly choose to rest alone.
